Thunderstorm Activity Incr. Through Week

video preview image

Another cut-off low pressure will be the main weather pattern through the week, if you recall a couple weeks ago we saw thunderstorms for over a week with drier storms early in the week and wetter storms later, we’re going to see the same pattern this week. Today the main thunderstorm threat will be in east Siskiyou county but we could see a few storms pop up as far north as Lake county. A Red Flag Warning is in effect for Siskiyou county this afternoon through Wednesday evening due to storms producing abundant lightning, the threat for dry lightning, gusts up to 30 to 40 mph and of course the dry fuels out there. I wouldn’t be surprised if this warning is extended into southern Oregon through the week.

Thunderstorms can produce dry lightning today and tomorrow with storms producing heavier rain and hail midweek. Be prepared for conditions to change quickly in the afternoons if thunderstorms develop. While most storms won’t be severe, just like last time many of them may reach severe criteria especially later in the week with storms able to produce large hail.
