Three Arrested in Stolen Vehicle Chase

MEDFORD, Ore. – Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a late-night stolen vehicle car chase near the Medford and Central Point line.

Robert Powelson, Miguel Delfin, and Juvenal Vega were seen driving a stolen vehicle near the pilot gas station on Pine Street.

The car turned into a nearby Super 8 Motel on Hamrick Road, where witnesses say they jumped out of the car while it was moving.

Jackson County sheriff’s deputies, Medford and Central Point Police, and Oregon State Police surrounded the motel. They narrowed their search to two second floor rooms.

The showdown lasted roughly an hour while authorities evacuated the nearby rooms and gained entry.

“Witnesses told us they jumped out of the vehicle while the vehicle was still in motion,” said Sheriff’s Deputy Don Adams. “So a little care for public safety at that point.”

Authorities say they cleared the first room without incident. Its occupants were arrested on separate warrants, but were not connected to the stolen car.

Powelson, Vega, and Delfin were in the second room.

Vega was arrested as the driver of the stolen car, Powelson on outstanding federal warrants for mail theft and bank fraud, and Delfin on previous warrants for armed robbery.

Authorities also found narcotics and possible stolen property in the room, which they are investigating.
