MEDFORD, Ore. — Thousands of Oregonians qualify for hundreds of dollars in settlement payments. 23,000 people qualify across the state. Several thousand of those people live in Southern Oregon.
The payments are from a settlement between the Department of Justice and the nation’s five big banks. They are available for people who were foreclosed on between January 1, 2008 and December 31, 2011. The settlements are for those who had their mortgages serviced by Ally, Bank of America, Citi Bank, JP Morgan, Chase or Wells Fargo.
In Jackson and Josephine counties, 2,995 foreclosures qualify. Those people will have to submit a claim in order to get the money. The total settlement is $25,000,000,000. Each claim is worth $800, possibly more. If you qualify, you will receive a letter with the details. Claims are due by mid-January.
