Temperatures Monday afternoon were in the mid 90’s in the Valley and also Siskiyou County. Most of the viewing area had temperatures 5-10 degrees above average values for July. Tuesday the highs are going to warm even more so, as high pressure over the Southwest expands further north. Happy Camp will continue to see triple digits Tuesday, and the upper 90’s are expected in the valleys.
A longwave trough is going to move inland by Wednesday. This is going to allow for a cooling trend to drop temperatures back to seasonal values through the end of the week. The lack of moisture across the NW is going to keep the thunderstorm threat rather minimal this week. The best chances are going to be late Wednesday afternoon and late Thursday afternoon, but any activity that does develop will be very isolated. Thursday looks to be the better day, with instability at it’s highest. This thunderstorm potential will be in place for mainly the Cascades & Siskiyou County, but also the East Side.
By next weekend, another warming trend moves in. This heat wave is going to bring triple digit temperatures back to the Valley. It’s likely both Saturday & Sunday we see temperatures hit the 100 degree mark.
Have a great week!
