High pressure continues to sit and expand over the Western half of the country. Triple digit temperatures are still in place, and many locations continue to tie or break records across the viewing area. Klamath Falls has broken their high temperature two days in a row now. For these reasons, a heat advisory is in place issued by the NWS, in effect until Tuesday evening. Triple digit temperatures, however, will continue into Wednesday.
By the 4th of July temperatures will begin cooling down but not by much! We are only talking several degrees. Highs will be back into the 90’s, but very few places will most likely still reach the 100’s. The thunderstorm threat will be increasing through the week for most of the viewing area.
Today, the moisture content in the air is high. However, this is expected to change into the coming week and for that reason some of these thunderstorms may have dry lightning. This will be hazardous for fire conditions. Officials are strongly urging the public to be very cautious outdoors camping this holiday and to also refrain from fireworks this year.
Have a great week!
