MEDFORD, Ore. — Medford teachers continue to protest after receiving their latest offer from the district.
150 supporters of the MEA joined the picket lines Saturday afternoon, including teachers from Medford, Eagle Point and Central Point.
Earlier this week, the district put their latest contract on the table and requested teachers vote on ratification. Protesters at Saturday’s rally say that offer fails to address their concerns around class sizes, classroom conditions and financial packages. They also say they expect a unified response.
“We know that we’re standing pretty solidly together as one complete unit. This is more than Medford teachers have done as long as I can recall, and many of my colleagues,” said Lisa North, an instructional coach.
The MEA is expected to vote on the latest proposal from the district this Thursday.
