Task Forces Relieve Local Fire Crews

Conflagration Relieves Local Fire CrewsWHITE CITY, Ore. — Local fire crews are back at their posts this weekend after the governor invoked the Conflagration Act on Friday.

That allows state funding to bring in task force teams from outside agencies to relieve local crews when a fire is threatening human life, animal life or homes. Almost all Jackson County units are back in the Rogue Valley on standby for local emergencies.

“It’s good to get these crews back, get them rested and rotated out, get the engines resettled and ready for the next emergency because we have no guarantee that we can’t have two big fires back to back or at the same time,” said Fire District 3’s Rod Edwards.
