TALENT, Ore. — Half a dozen fire fighters helped contain flames on a field, after a controlled burn got out of hand.
The fire began in an open field near the intersection of Talent Avenue and Rogue River Parkway. Fire crews were completely smoked out as they continued to douse the sparks.
Officials say the burn began early this morning but as the afternoon rolled in, so did the gusts of wind a cause for concern since it was so close to industrial buildings.
“It’s still hot and its dry early in the season and it actually could’ve jumped up and got out of control had we not got here early and knocked it down,” says Jackson County Fire District 5 Chief Dan Marshall
Officials say they are now investigating whether the residents indeed had a permit for the agricultural burn.
