PORTLAND, Ore. – It’s déjà vu all over again for the South Medford girls’ basketball team. South lost in the 6A state championship game for the second consecutive season. This time it was Oregon City delivering the blow with a huge 2nd half run. The final score was 57-48. Highlights and postgame reaction is included.
PORTLAND, Ore. – For the third straight season, South Medford is going to the state championship. The Panthers withstood a second half rally from Beaverton to win 45-40, securing a spot in the finals against Oregon City.
Four Southern Oregon boys basketball teams were in action on Thursday in Oregon’s state quarterfinals. All four teams lost. Highlights include South Medford/Jesuit, Eagle Point/West Albany, North Valley/Philomath and Henley/La Grande.
The final Friday of the regular season for the 4A-6A featured a pair of high-profile rivalries. South Medford owned the “Black and Blue” series. The South Medford boys take out Roseburg in a close battle while Grants Pass continues to roll against Crater. Plus, our Game of the Week features the experienced Eagle Point Eagles versus the youth of Hidden Valley.
North Medford wins the outright SWC title after beating Roseburg 14-10. Ashland also wins an outright championship and finishes the regular season undefeated with a 33-17 win over Eagle Point. Sheldon beats Grants Pass, South avoids the play-in round with a win over Crater while Klamath Union and Henley split the Skyline Conference Title.
With only two weeks left in the regular season, each game takes on more intensity, but the Black and Blue Bowl always has high stakes. Highlights include North Medford/South Medford, Crater/South Eugene, Bend/Eagle Point, Willamette/Ashland, North Valley/Phoenix, Mazama/Henley, Klamath Union/Hidden Valley, Illinois Valley/Cascade Christian and Powers/Butte Falls.
ASHLAND, Ore. – Southern Oregon wide receivers Ryan and Matt Retzlaff react to Southern Oregon’s 59-32 win over Montana Tech. The former South Medford brothers combined for 19 receptions, 352 yards and six touchdowns in the Frontier Conference rout.
