MEDFORD, Ore. - SWAT teams rushed to a Medford apartment complex after an argument between two roommates. Medford Police say one of the two men collapsed in front of Providence Medical Center with several broken bones and head trauma.
Police say the victim called from a cell phone around 2:45 A.M. Wednesday morning, saying he had been attacked by his roommate. When police arrived they found the victim in the hospital parking lot, where they escorted him in for treatment. Then officers attempted to contact the other roommate, who remained inside the Royal Apartments on Spring Street. Police say the man had pulled a handgun during the argument. Police called SWAT teams to the apartment complex and evacuated neighbors from the building. After SWAT units gave announcements the man came out and police took him into custody.
Police say the man beat the victim with his hands, fists, and some type of a blunt object. The victim is still recovering in the hospital, but police say he is expected to be okay. Police will be filing formal charges after a thorough investigation of the inside of the apartment and the weapons.
