MEDFORD, Ore. — Temperatures have started to cool and practices for ski teams with the Medford Ski Education Foundation have heated up.
“It’s like a big family, we all ski tigether, we train together, we help each other out, we always give eachother as much encouragement and that, to me, means more than doing well at state or anything like that,” said North Medford High School Senior Reece Pressman
Pressman is in his fifth year with the team and is already excited for upcoming competitions.
“We have four league races we race up on Mt. Ashland and after our our league races we get to qualify for the state event which this year is going to be up at Mt. Hood,” said Pressman.
Saturday, The Medford Ski Education Foundation continued day two of their fundraiser The annual Southern Oregon Ski Swap.
“We have a lot of people locally that bring in their used ski equipment and we get a small percentage of that to help go toward our organization,” said Head coach Gary King.
King says the athletes are responsible for covering all expenses, so the fundraiser goes a long way.
“The funds that we raise for our organization probably covers about 40% of our costs for or high school athletes,” said King
