MEDFORD, Ore. — Medford firefighters are investigating a pair of suspicious fires that were set on the Bear Creek Greenway Sunday night.
The first fire was reported around 7:30 p.m. near the Rogue Valley Mall, and burned about an eighth of an acre. Then a few minutes later, a second fire was reported less than a mile down the Greenway near the Railroad Park. That fire was also knocked down quickly.
Medford Fire crews said they think the timing and distance between the fires is suspicious.
“We don’t think that it was a warming fire or a cooking fire,” said Fire Marshal Greg Kleinberg. “We do think that it was intentionally set with maybe an open flame or some other type of device.”
Anyone who was in the area last night is being asked to come forward with information.
