MEDFORD, Ore. — The superintendent of the Three Rivers School District has filed a tort claim against the school board on grounds of retaliation and harassment. NewsWatch 12 received a copy of the letter notifying the school board of the tort claim from Superintendent Patricia Adams’ attorney.
In the letter, Adams’ attorney states the harassment was coming from former school board chair Ron Crume in particular.
The letter claims Crume retaliated toward Adams after she told him it was not proper to lead a school board meeting in a prayer. Among other claims, the letter alleges Crume used derogatory terms for gay and lesbian students.
For a settlement, the letter makes several requests including one hundred thousand dollars for payment of medical expenses, legal fees and non-economic damages.
NewsWatch 12 reached out to Crume who said he is unable to comment on the matter because it is pending litigation.
