Sunny and hot is the story through the weekend, but the next couple of days will have seasonal temperatures while Friday through the beginning of next week we’ll be well above normal. While temperatures will be in the 90s in the valleys and 80s in the basin we’ll have a pleasant afternoon breeze which will make it feel a bit more comfortable. Expect wind gusts up to 25 mph along the coast this afternoon and evening. While the coast will see some patchy fog and clouds in the morning, by the aftenoon we’ll see mostly sunny skies.
Expect a similar pattern tomorrow as well, but Friday is when the ridge currently centered over the Great Basin will shift not only west but north. This is the first time this summer we’ve seen the ridge shift this far north and the reason we’ll see the hottest weekend so far this year. Saturday will be our first time in Medford in 709 days without a 100 degree temperature, and it looks like we may even be surpassing 100 degrees! The ridge slowly starts to shift back east next week, so it looks like Saturday will be our only day in the triple digits, but through early next week expect above normal temperatures.
