With the Neutral El Nino Southern Oscillation conditions, a high pressure ridge should sit over most of the Western United States this summer. This area of high pressure will move further West as areas of low pressure push inland along the jet stream. During these times, short periods of above average and extremely warm conditions will occur several times through the course of the summer.
Aside from these short periods of above average temperatures, most of the summer should be near normal temperature-wise in the Valley. The East Side and Siskiyou County will see temperatures slightly above average.
In terms of precipitation, this ridge of high pressure will keep the storm track to the North. A neutral El Nino will lead to below normal precipitation amounts across the region through the end of the summer. This is going to lead to extreme fire danger for all areas. We have already gotten off to an early fire season, and this is expected to continue through the summer months.
