Suicide in Jackson County Jail

Oregon Jail MEDFORD, Ore. — A Jackson County Jail inmate is on life support right now, awaiting surgery for organ harvesting.

The 19-year-old inmate was in police custody for robbery and had recently wrapped up a different case where his charges had been reduced to failure to register as a sex offender. The sheriff says he was found in his jail cell after committing suicide.

“He was brain dead last night at 10:27 p.m. His body is still being supported by life support until they can harvest the organs,” explained Capt. Monty Holloway, with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.

The circumstances of his death are still under investigation.
