Fire officials say a car inside of the building caught fire. The building did not have a name posted anywhere, but is believed to be an auto body repair shop.
Firefighters said when the arrived on the scene they saw black smoke coming through the garage doors and out of the top of the building. Firefighters were able to put the fire out promptly.
“In these buildings there can be a challenge because they are locked down so tight and we have to force entry into them, and we really don’t know what we have inside of some of these,” said Jackson County Fire District 3 Battalion Chief, Mike Hussey. “When we got in there and identified it was only a car fire instead of the actual building it was a little easier to work with.”
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but fire officials say it does not look suspicious.
