The St. Mary’s golf team cruised to a fourth straight 3A/2A/1A championship, tying a record held by Medford and Taft that is more than 20 years old. The Crusaders beat runner-up Cascade Christian by 23 strokes on Tuesday at Trysting Tree Golf Club in Corvallis. St. Mary’s senior Dylan Wu won his second individual title with a two-round 2-under 142. Three other Crusaders finished in the top ten. Josh Wu finished in third at 3-over, Jeremy Wu came in sixth at 5-over and Tom Thorndike was tied for ninth at 8-over. Three Cascade Christian golfers also finished in the Top 10; Max Davis and Jake Quast tied for fourth at 4-over and Ben Quast was tied for seventh at 7-over.
In other state tournament action, Henley’s Kylie Collom won the 4A/3A/2A/1A girls state championship by one stroke over her twin sister Katie. Kylie shot a 13-over 157 through two rounds. Katie, who on the state title two years ago as a freshman fired a 14-0ver. North Medford freshman Kiara Oshiro made a late charge on day two, but came up two strokes short of a state title. Oshiro finished 2-over for the tournament, while Sheldon’s Haleigh Krause was at even par. In the 4A boys tournament, Mazama’s Bryce Wortman had a third place finish after shooting 4-over par.
