MEDFORD, Ore. — Jackson County is seeing a boost in visitors coming to our area strictly for vacation.

Rogue Valley Zipline Aventures says roughly 70% of summertime customers are from out of the area. Chamber of Commerce officials call those customers leisure travelers. “I think that that leisure traveler continues to grow which is very exciting because they’re coming to explore what we have to offer here,” said Anne Jenkins with Travel Medford.

“It’s the zip lines, it’s the outdoor rec that we have going on, it’s the wineries, and we continue to have more boutique wineries popping up, which are just absolutely wonderful and they are providing great experiences for our out of town guests.”

With the spike in guests, there’s also a spike in hospitality.

A new Hilton Hotel is in the works in Medford and the national restaurant chain Denny’s is also getting ready to open up shop in Medford this summer at Ramada Inn.
