ASHLAND, Ore. — Southern Oregon University released the final retrenchment plan for the university. The plan implements budget cuts, which the university says will save them millions of dollars in the long-term.
Southern Oregon University announced Friday morning they are cutting Art History & French majors, suspending the Physics major, and cutting Photography, Professional Writing, and Film Technique minors.
In a press release issued Friday, SOU says these programs were targeted for cuts because of, “low enrollment, attracting few students and producing very few graduates, or are not currently meeting the needs of the regional workforce.”
SOU says students with questions about affected programs should contact the Provost’s Office at firstname.lastname@example.org or at 541-552-6114.
