SIOUX CITY, IA. – Southern Oregon entered the NAIA quarterfinals with the top-ranked offense in the nation. Their opponent, Morningside (Iowa), boasts the top defense. That didn’t phase the Raiders.
After entering halftime down two touchdowns, the Raiders stormed back to take a 3-point lead in the 4th quarter. The Mustangs would tie it up, however, forcing overtime.
In OT, the Raiders could not score a touchdown in three tries, so Colin Amsler converted a 37-yard field goal. Morningside responded with an impressive drive finishing it off with a 4-yard touchdown in the short corner of the endzone. The Mustangs defeat the Raiders 47-44.
Southern Oregon finishes the season at 9-3 and falls to 0-4 all-time in the NAIA quarterfinals.
