ASHLAND, Ore. — The Southern Oregon Arts and Research Conference is wrapping up Thursday. Over the last week, students have been showing off their ideas and inventions. Thursday dozens of SOU seniors presented their capstone projects on posters. The topics ranged from the economy of solar energy, hemp industrialization, to psychology research on bullying.
One student’s poster illustrated her efforts to teach English to children in Ethiopia.
“It takes a lot of patience and you start from the basics, but now it’s amazing to see them. They are starting to read and they’re making full coherent sentences and making friends and it’s been really rewarding,” said SOU student Jess Daly.
Students answered questions from professors and some members of the public. Their projects were the culmination of several months of work.
