Small Blasts Expected near Phoenix

constructionPHOENIX, Ore. — Today and tomorrow from noon to 3 you may notice small test blasts near the new North Phoenix Road alignment project.

The Oregon Department of Transportation says “the blasts will determine the extent of later production blasting to fracture rock for the new roadway alignment, located northeast of the Home Depot.”

“The public may hear some small pops,” said ODOT Project Manager Tim Fletcher. “It won’t be a Hollywood-level explosion but you might see a dust cloud.”

After the test blasts are analyzed, a schedule for production blasts will be determined.
