MOUNT ASHLAND, Ore. — Nearly 150 employees at Mt. Ashland are training for the ski season. This comes after 15 inches of snow fall in that area. That’s not enough snowfall to open the facility for business.
“The good news is we got our first big shot of snow. The bad news is it’s only 3-5% moisture content. So by the time the snowcats go over the snow and release all the air that’s in that snow, it’s gonna pack down to I think three to four inches,” said Development Director Rick Saul.
The grooming will begin on Monday. The Ski Area need 18-22 inches of packed snow.
