Skate Park Closing for Maintenance

Skate Park RepairsGRANTS PASS, Ore. — The Grants Pass Skate Park off of M Street will be closed next Wednesday, June 25 for repairs.

City park officials said they will be doing general maintenance on the skate park.  A rail is wiggly, and there are small holes starting to form in the concrete that need to be filled.  There is also a grate that needs replaced.

General maintenance takes place at the park year round.  Officials said if they do not properly maintain it, small problems could become big safety issues in the future.

“Cracks will let more water in and will continue to get larger, the holes in the concrete will continue to chip out, the rail would continue to get more loose, and then maybe would become something that could break over time,” said Jeff Nelson, Superintendent of the Grants Pass Parks and Recreation Department.

The repairs will cost approximately $500 and come out of the Grants Pass Parks and Recreation budget.

The park will reopen at noon on June 26.
