YREKA, Calif. – After months of discord in the Siskiyou County Courthouse, county supervisors fired that county’s legal counsel on Tuesday.
By a unanimous vote, the board voted Tuesday morning to rescind a contract they signed with Thomas Guarino back in December. No reason was announced for the firing. Last week, Guarino was blocked from his office by sheriff Jon Lopey.
Guarino was reported as saying he was trying to retrieve personal items. Published reports have hinted that the firing may have grown out of personnel problems within the county counsel’s office, but there was no explanation offered at today’s supervisor’s meeting.
