YREKA, Calf. — Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office, working with other local, state and federal agencies, made a total of 11 arrests of adults and 1 juvenile on Tuesday as part the new Crime Emergency Response Program, or CERP.
The Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office launched the preventative program this week. The pro-active police work targets areas with a high number of complaints and high crime rate. The first activity by the county, state, and federal agencies happened in Happy Camp on Tuesday.
11 adults and 1 minor were arrested on various felony and misdemeanor charges; most were cited and released. The CERP program also offers offenders the chance to get into alternative sentencing program so they can get help with addictions and mental health.
The Siskiyou County Sheriff says CERP operations will be conducted at least twice a month in areas plagued by crime problems.
