WHITE CITY, Ore. — A lapse in insurance is forcing the shooting range at the Jackson County Sports Park to temporarily close. The date they’ll re-open is unknown as officials work to get their coverage reinstated or switched to a new provider altogether. Neither the president of the Rogue Valley Shooting Sports Association nor their attorney could comment on what led up to the lapse in coverage.
Tuesday was the first day the ranges were closed and officials say some disappointed shooters were turned away.
“I’ve had approximately a dozen people who have come out and hadn’t heard that in fact we were closed and they’ve all been very receptive to the fact that with good reason, we don’t want to cause issues, liability issues, for them and ourselves,” said R.V.S.S.A. President Phil Grammatica.
Shooting range officials said, once re-opened, they will extend season passes for the same length of time they are closed.
