(CNN) SEATTLE, Wash. — One person is dead after a shooting at Seattle Pacific University.

Three others are hurt, one critically. The gunman is in custody after authorities say university staff stopped him.

Seattle police say a young man entered Otto Miller Hall on the Seattle Pacific University campus armed with a shotgun. Police say the gunman immediately confronted three victims and shot them. Two of those victims have life threatening injuries.

The shooter then began to reload his shotgun and that’s when police say the building monitor inside of the hall confronted the shooter and was able to subdue him. Once on the ground, other students reportedly jumped in to help and they were able to pin the shooter to the ground until police arrived.

The campus was on lockdown but it has since been lifted. Seattle Pacific is a Christian university with a student population of more than 4,000.
