WHITE CITY, Ore. — Jackson County Sheriff’s deputies are getting into the holiday spirit. They are giving back to the community, donating toys and food to families in need.
The officers find most of the less fortunate families throughout the year on house calls. They report them to the official in charge of the community outreach program, then when the holidays come, the Sheriff’s Department contacts the families to see if they are interested in receiving holiday assistance.
Together with the Upper Rogue Rotary Club, and the White City Community Improvement Association, they all gather donations.Officers said it’s a nice to extend a helping hand, especially this time of year.
“Just knowing it making a difference for them Christmas morning… putting a smile on their
Face, maybe giving them something they would not have had otherwise… it’s a good feeling,” said Deputy Phil Cicero with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department.
Officers said the give-back program helps them build relationships within the community they serve.
