Sheriff Units Surround Residence

Police LightsGOLD HILL, Ore. — The Jackson County Sheriff’s office and the Oregon State Police shut down 2nd Avenue at about 6:30 Monday morning because of a domestic dispute involving a man armed with a rifle.

The Sheriff’s Office units responded to a residence in the 800 block of N 2nd Avenue in Gold Hill, where they found Timothy Knutsen, 50, inside the residence armed with a rifle and a female victim hiding in the bedroom.

Upon arrival, deputies were able to contact the victim on the phone and give her instructions on how to exit the residence safely. While 2nd Avenue was shut down, Sheriff’s units surrounded the residence. After brief communication with Knutsen, he agreed to exit the residence and was taken into custody without incident.

Knutsen was charged with Domestic Menacing and Harassment, and lodged at the Jackson County Jail.
