GRENADA, Calif. — Things are looking up for a Siskiyou County assisted living facility that was facing closure.

The Shepherd of God facility houses elderly patients needing assistance. The 90-bed business has been battling budget issues for years.

The current owner says February’s bills would show some $40,000 in the negative, but he believes the place will soon be under new ownership.

The person who owns Shasta View Nursing Center in Weed will likely buy it and use it to compliment the places he already owns.

“When they get sick here, they can go to his nursing home. When they get better there they can come back here. They kind of complement each other,” said current owner Charles Tarrats.

Residents will no longer need to relocate. The same administrator will stay on staff and 32 employees will not be facing a loss with the new ownership.

The current owner says the deal will happen in the next few weeks and then he plans to become a pastor of a church.
