CENTRAL POINT, Ore. — The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says a sex offender had not only moved to a new address without registering, but was growing marijuana at the residence.
After receiving an anonymous tip, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office investigators determined that 28-year-old Michael Ray Hernandez was currently living in the 500 block of Mountain View Drive in Central Point, which was not his registered address. After searching the property, investigators found dozens of marijuana plants, processed marijuana, and growing equipment.
The sheriff’s office says Hernandez does have an OMMP card, but is not a registered grower and the residence is not a registered grow site. Investigators seized 55 plants and 6.5 pounds of processed marijuana. Hernandez was left with 1.5 pounds of processed marijuana due to his OMMP card.
Hernandez was charged with Failure to Register as a Sex Offender, Manufacturing of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of a Controlled Substance. He was cited and released.
