BOZEMAN, Mont. — For 15 years, the FBI and Oregon State Police have been searching for a Roseburg man wanted for multiple counts of sodomy, rape, and sexual abuse. Finally, this week, police capture Daniel Chafe in Bozeman, Montana.
On Wednesday, highway patrol took the 55-year-old fugitive into custody. The initial investigation centered around two underage female victims, but as it progressed investigators identified more victims.
Before failing to appear in court, he went on a fishing trip in Washington and his friend was missing and he remained a fugitive ever since. Since 1998, he was under consideration for the FBI’s top ten list. When he was arrested he had been living under an alias name in Montana.
He faces six counts of Rape 3, five of Sexual Abuse 3 and seven counts of Sodomy 3.
