ASHLAND, Ore. — Senator Jeff Merkley arrived in Ashland on Tuesday after traveling oil-free from Washington to the California boarder.
In honor of the nation’s Independence Day, the drive hoped to raise awareness on America’s need to declare its independence from overseas oil.
Along the drive, Senator Merkely made stops, visiting communities to highlight the potential for electric vehicles to transform how America uses energy, highlighting costs as a big incentive for the switch over.
The Senator also named two other key factors that drive his efforts – such as the potential environmental effects and oversee oil dependency.
