Traffic is getting back to normal after a fire on a semi truck closes part of Interstate 5 early Tuesday evening. Officials with the Oregon Department of Transportation say a semi was heading northbound when it caught on fire near Exit 17.
The driver immediately pulled over and attempted to put the fire out. Fire District 5 responded to the fire. Crews shut down parts of the interstate as a precaution and we were able to quickly reopen it minutes later.
Vehicles were backed up for a few miles during the incident. Officials say no injures occurred during the fire and that it may have started from overheated brakes.
