KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. — A second arrest has been made in a counterfeit money investigation in Klamath Falls. It all started when a woman in possession of counterfeit money was arrested earlier this month. That arrest led Klamath Falls Police to 36-year old Vernon Edward Schaeffer, who was staying at a local hotel.
Police said Schaeffer was in the process of forging fake currency and had fake $20, $50 and $100 dollar bills. In addition to the fake currency, officers seized paper and copying equipment and a small amount of methamphetamine, as well as other evidence collected at the scene.
Oregon State Police arrested Schaeffer Friday morning and placed him in Klamath County Jail on multiple Forgery charges, as well as Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument and Possession of a Controlled Substance — methamphetamine. Police are continuing the investigation.
