GRANTS PASS, Ore. — Four people were taken into police custody during a SWAT team operation in Grants Pass.
Police say they were serving a search warrant at a home in the 1900 block of Fruitdale Drive around 9 a.m. Officers believed the people inside had guns and drugs.
Two people came out when SWAT teams arrived, but two others refused. Officers used what they called “diversionary devices” to create large bangs and force the people out. Grants Pass Police said they did not want to take any chances if the people inside had firearms.
“We can’t put police officers coming to knock on people’s doors and ask people to come out. We use a SWAT team for that. Special weapons and training allows us to do it more safely, not just for the officers on scene but also the community that surrounds that particular residence,” said Bill Landis of Grants Pass Police
Police have not released the names and charges of the people involved.
