Search Warrant for Yreka Gold Theft

YREKA, Ca. — The investigation of the major gold theft from the Siskiyou County courthouse has taken Siskiyou County officials to the Bay Area.

The gold, reportedly worth more than a million dollars, was taken by two hooded suspects in the early morning hours of February 1st of last year in Yreka.

Now, nearly a year later, Sheriff Jon Lopey and about ten other Siskiyou County officials are headed to El Cerrito to serve a search warrant in connection to the burglary.

The Sheriff says it now appears the Sheriff’s Office will seek arrest warrants for two persons of interest.
