Search for Chase Suspect in Grants Pass

GRANTS PASS, Ore. — A search is underway for a man who authorities say is armed and dangerous.

Wednesday night, officers received information that Tanner Sayre had crashed a car that had been reported stolen earlier this week.

Witnesses said they saw Tanner with a gun in the area of northeast Foothill and northeast D Street in Grants Pass. He then took off and officers led a search for him that ended up in a high speed chase.

It was reported that Sayre eventually fled on foot. Officers located his car, crashed into a power pole. Police believe he could have been intoxicated.

“I know he was driving at a high rate of speed.  And certainly, by shearing a power pole off and flipping the vehicle onto its roof, would support those facts,” said deputy chief Jeff Geddings.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety.
