MEDFORD, Ore. — NewsWatch 12 is working with its partners all over Southern Oregon to collect coats for the Coats for Kids Drive.
The need for the coats is high again this year. Roosevelt School is one of the many schools and agencies that receive donated coats.
The principal says the school received more than a couple dozen coats last year and all were handed out; the demand is not expected to go down this year.
“There’s nothing like it when you give a new coat to a child who has not had the opportunity to have a new coat and they get to be just like their peers and wear something warm,” said Roosevelt Principal Kimberly Miles.
School staff determines the need when children are often recommended to receive a coat. Any additional coats are stored and handed out throughout the year whenever there’s a need.
