FYI, the notice the school board sent out for the elementary morning schedule said it started at 7:30, not 8.

The Board needs to stop spending their time and OUR money trying to make the teachers out to be the bad guys here. We are fortunate to have wonderful, dedicated teacher in Medford. The Board needs to stand by their word and pay the teachers. It is what is best for our children. Let me say that again another way… Keeping our dedicated teachers that know our children is what is best for our children. Having an elementary school get home from school, on the bus, after 5:00 each night is absurd!

In addition, the money they will spend paying substitute teachers and organizing this grand debacle should be spend on Medford teachers, not teachers bussed in from somewhere else!

When would this go into effect?

  4. Helmut Schroeder says:

The children’s education doesn’t seem to be of primary concern here!

When will you actually be reporters and cover this story. How much do teachers make in comparison to others in this area. Who has employer that pays all retirement and health care. If the School District were to settle for all the teachers union wants, who will pay? PERS is hugely under funded now, tax payers will be and are being asked to make up big differences between the reality of PERS to pay promised benefits. Teachers, pay attention, When PERS is unable to pay your benefits the state will have to file bankruptcy and you will have no pension. Your union created this mess along with the governor, legislature and Oregon Judiciary. The union wanted to raise benefits in the 1990’s and the legislature added themselves to your retirement, the Governor added bureaucrats and to get it by the judiciary they were also added while only having to be employed for as little as 3 years. They are drawing benefits against your retirement you paid into, or I paid into for you. By continuing to make unreasonable demands and asking for benefits way beyond anything in the local area you will destroy your retirement and the education system we have now. By the way kids are not learning the skills they need to be competitive or even get into college from your current system.
