BUTTE FALLS, Ore. — During emergencies, rural areas face the possibility of losing communication, so new equipment will help in Butte Falls, Prospect, and other parts of rural Southern Oregon as needed.
The satellite is a small, self-contained trailer. It has it’s own generator, Wi-Fi system and other computers can be hooked up to it.
The fire chief says fires like the double-day fire in 2008 could easily happen again, damaging phone systems. But now with the new equipment losing communication lines should not be an issue.
The equipment was funded by the Community Health Center and the Landing. Jackson County and Prospect will also have its own satellite trailer.
