Samurai Sword Suspect At LargeNEAR GRANTS PASS, Ore. — Police officers are asking for the public’s help to find a suspect in a Friday morning Samurai sword assault in Josephine County. Preston James Sweaney, 23, is also wanted on other unrelated warrants. Sweaney has a felony drug-related warrant out of California and a misdemeanor warrant out of Curry County for his arrest.

Friday at 1:47 a.m., Oregon State Police (OSP) responded to Northwest Highland Avenue where officers found Sweaney’s brother Nathanial, 21, suffering from non-life-threatening sword wounds on his side and arm. Sweaney’s relative Christian Burnison also suffers injuries, but did not receive medical treatment.

Sweaney left the scene and police consider him to be dangerous. Police don’t want anyone to contact him. Instead, call OSP Southern Command Center dispatch at 800-442-2068 or 911 with any information indicating where he is.

Sweaney is a 5’9 weighing about 155 lbs. He has hazel eyes, a mohawk and a scar on his chin. Sweaney has multiple tattoos and was last seen without a shirt. He was wearing jeans with white rear pocket stitching as of Friday morning.
