Salvation Army Out of Food

MEDFORD, Ore. — The largest food pantry in Jackson County is asking for your help. Yesterday, they ran out of food. The Salvation Army says it’s the first time it’s happened in the county’s history.

Salvation Army Spokeswoman Jackie Agee says typically the pantry carries canned items and vegetables, but by the afternoon, spaghetti sauce pasta and rice were all that was left. She says this week; more people were coming in for assistance than usual.

“Anything the community can do to help us to offset our additional costs for food would really be appreciated,” Agee says. “As far as dropping off donations of canned food items particularly fruits, vegetables and protein.”

The spokeswoman says cash donations are also accepted. The Salvation Army bought some food today and hope it will last them the end of this week.
