Dozens of people lined up waiting in hopes of some extra holiday work as a bell ringer. Bell ringing won’t begin until November 16th and will conclude on Christmas Eve.

The ringers will stand at nearly 20 different locations to accept donations for Christmas in the signature red kettles. This is the first hiring event of the year for these positions, if you missed it, the final event will be October 31 at 9 a.m. at 226 North Ross Lane.

I think I am motivated to try and ring bells for the salvation army this year.

However, I went to the Social Security office to apply for a replacement social security card. They told me that I had reached my lifetime limits of number of ss cards that can be issued. Over the last 30 years, I admit I did foolish and irresponsible and reckless things with my ss cards including losing the cards and getting them stolen etc.

The Social Security office told me if I could produce a letter from a potential employer showing that a social security card is required and needed, they would try and accomodate me with a new card.

Is it possible somone at your office can issue a short letter to me stating that I will need a social security card for employment, a letter to that effect?

    Thank you.
