Salvation Army Begins Fan Drive

Medford Salvation Army Holds Fan DriveMEDFORD, Ore. — The Salvation Army’s annual fan event is underway to help cool off those in need. This event started 10 to 15 years ago, when people visited the office asking for a fan.

Now every year, the organization takes new or unused fan donations. Last year, the Salvation Army gave away about 150 fans. Their goal this year is to give out at least 200 fans for free.

“Our goal is literally is to either comfort people or I’m sure in some instances it probably even saves people’s lives,” said Salvation Army Captain Martin Cooper.

The majority of the fans go to senior citizens and low income families. People can donate fans to the Salvation Army social services office in Medford.
