Sales Surge at Southern Oregon Store

MEDFORD, Ore. — As the nation’s Halloween sales approach $8 billion, a local costume shop reported more than $10,000 in sales over the last three days.

Employees at Spirit in Medford say the average person is spending around $40 locally on costumes and accessories. “Pricing really hasn’t gone up at all from last year, but it’s definitely more traffic and more sales. People are spending a little more money this year,” Assistant Manager Nici Goodman said.

The biggest sales day has yet to arrive, though. Employees told Newswatch 12 the day before Halloween should be the busiest day. The second busiest day is expected to be the day after Halloween. According to employees, haunted house organizations tend to buy supplies for the following year on that day.
