Royal Family Kids Camp Needs Counselors

campGRANTS PASS, Ore. — A foster kid camp in Josephine County is in need of more than a dozen camp counselors.

DHS and Royal Family Kids are looking for 15 more camp counselors for the annual foster kids camp. Counselors need to be ages 18 or older and pass a background check. The camp is a week-long commitment. Royal Family Kids Camp is held in the mountains outside of Roseburg from July 27th through August 1st.

The camp pairs one counselor to two children. Foster kids get to experience outdoor activities such as horseback riding, swimming, and wood-working.

“The kids need to know that there’s people out there outside of DHS and their current situation that love and care about them and this camp is a tremendous thing. It’s a wonderful program,” said Bob Hendrick, a Foster Home Recruiter with DHS.

The camp currently has a wait list of 30 foster kids in need of councilors. This is the first year they may have to turn away foster kids. Camp is open for kids ages 6 to 12. Click here for more information.
