Rotary Club Cleans Up Local Parks

MEDFORD, Ore. — More than 150 Rotary Club members volunteered at parks in Southern Oregon on Saturday.

Nine different clubs helped clear overgrown blackberry bushes, chop and clean up other excess vegetation. Medford Rotary removed more than 800 lbs of overgrowth alone this weekend.

“We thought it was a great way to give back and to have this many people from throughout the valley as far as Eagle Point to come down and say this is something we’re going to get behind and make a difference,” said Medford Rotary Club President Matthew Patten. “Rotarians [sic] are volunteering in their community each and every day but to have them all come together in one big project was really great.”

The volunteers worked on portions of Bear Creek Greenway and parks in Ashland, Talent, Phoenix, Medford and Central Point.
